Jim's Personal Background:

Jim began his prospecting journey in 2006, with the then newly released Minelab GPX 4000, during a trip around Australia following his diagnosis with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. It was during this trip that his passion for gold prospecting took root, particularly while stopping in Nullagine in the Pilbara.

   

 

"Mentorship and Experience"

• When arriving in Leonora, Jim was mentored by a geologist who provided him with a strong foundation in basic geology and advanced prospecting techniques. This invaluable guidance, combined with years of field experience, deepened his understanding of how to locate gold-bearing areas.

• Jim later invested in a half-share of a very productive gold prospecting lease, allowing him to rigorously test various Minelab detectors to better understand their capabilities.

 

 

Enjoying the Outback Life: 

His hands-on testing spanned years, giving him a comprehensive knowledge of how to effectively use this equipment in real-world conditions.

• So, a significant portion of Jim's expertise lies in the Minelab GPZ 7000. As over the course of two plus years and more than 4,000 hours of fieldwork, Jim seemed to have mastered the functions of the GPZ 7000. His extensive testing made him according to many, an expert on the detector's capabilities.

• This acquired  knowledge lead him also to then write a practical GPZ 7000 Field manual, which was discussed with and sanctioned for publication by Minelab.

• However, instead of publishing the manual, Jim decided to focus just on providing 1-on-1 training to share his expertise directly with others.

 

Deciding to provide Training:

• Jim has conducted many training events across Western Australia, Victoria, NSW, and Queensland during the last decade, helping prospectors from all backgrounds improve their skills with the GPZ 7000 and also on the GPX range of Minelab detectors.
